“Cayman Tech City is a vibrant, community of innovative companies and entrepreneurs from across the globe. It is therefore vital that we support initiatives like the World Tokenomic Forum as we continue to develop this significant tech cluster in the Cayman Islands,” said Charlie Kirkconnell, CEO of Cayman Enterprise City, which has seen some 50 blockchain companies establish or begin the process of establishing a physical presence in the Cayman Islands.
“As an industry partner member of the World Tokenomic Forum, we are excited to welcome international guests, who are passionate about creating an efficient, prosperous, and transparent global economy to the Cayman Islands on an annual basis.”
The forum is the leading international organization for enabling public-private cooperation, economic interoperability, and innovation as businesses move to a new economic order in a token economy.
“We recognized the need in the marketplace for a more curated, intimate, and pragmatic space to hold the crucial conversations between all stakeholders, while simultaneously providing a platform to identify, develop, and amplify the most promising technologies,” said Chris J Snook, chairman of World Tokenomic Forum.
The summit will feature the final of the “Sandcastle Startups Challenge,” a Shark Tank-meets March Madness-like competition that hosts the final 16 emerging companies pitching their ideas to a panel of judges and members. These 16 teams made it through multiple rounds that began with over 137 vetted blockchain companies back in January. The winner will receive a US$250,000 software and services contract. Among those adjudicating the competition will be Kirkconnell, Bonin Bough (Former C-Level at Mondelez). Danny DeMichele (CEO at Incubate.com), and Sebastien Henot (Blockchain Innovation Lead at Renault Nissan). Additionally, 10 local students who are part of the Enterprise Cayman Summer in the City internship programme will be invited for this aspect of the three-day summit.
